Welcome to Argument Cottage, named after a local family, which is Guisborough’s only four star self-catering establishment. Argument Cottage offer luxury Four Star accommodation accredited by VisitBritain. Our lovely holiday cottage is situated on the Gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors in the beautiful market town and ancient capital of Cleveland, Guisborough.

Centrally located on Northgate two minutes from the town centre and 12th Century Augustinian Priory Ruins, the property is a former miners' cottage. Despite the approximate 130 year history, the cottage has been fully refurbished to a superb standard whilst at the same time retaining original features.

Since opening in 2005, Phil and Maria have designed an environmentally friendly and high quality business, looking after the needs of tourists, business people and returning family and friends. As a result Argument Cottage achieved a Silver Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme (GTBS) the national accreditation scheme for sustainable tourism and a finalist in the coveted Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Award in the category of Sustainable Tourism.

Examples of our 'green activities' include, recycling waste, using low energy light bulbs, rainwater harvesting, local and fair trade supplies, supporting cycling and walking (especially along the Cleveland Way). We aim to Reduce, Reuse and Recyle whenever and wherever possible. 

All of our guests receive an excellent level of customer service and luxury accommodation. Including the following FREE items: two visitor parking permits, gas, electricity, incoming phone line, cable freeview tv, bedroom and bathroom linen and exclusive welcome pack- with a selection of items such as- bottle of wine, flowers, eggs, fair trade tea and coffee, marmalade, jam, bread, toiletries and much more!

Wherever possible we use ecologically friendly products and fair trade items, cooperate fully with the local authority recycling scheme and also include within our welcome pack locally produced items.
